Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment services are counseling services that are offered on an individual basis or in group therapy.  Therapists are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Fridays.  SUD treatment focuses on the substance use of the person served as well as how this use has impacted all aspects of that person’s life.  The ultimate goal of SUD treatment is to return the person served back to their individual natural support system including family, friends, and other community supports while they start their recovery process.   Women’s Specialty services are also available which include a gender specific therapist, daycare while in session, coordination with your medical team, case management, and transportation to and from appointments as needed.

Goals

To reduce morbidity, recidivism, and addiction related to substance use disorders for the specific target population as defined in the Michigan Department of Public Health, state, local health services analysis, and to the community at large

PREVENTION AND OTHER SERVICES
Prevention

Prevention services offered through the SUD program may change from year to year based on community need and utilization.  All prevention services are FREE of charge and are offered through a regional PIHP grant.  Services that are currently being provided include, anger management classes, individual youth life skills programs that are offered in several schools throughout the county as well as individual sessions offered at CMH offices, parenting programs, as well as life skills and cognitive restructuring programs being ran in the Lapeer County Jail.

Assessments

Substance Use Disorder assessments are conducted for adolescents in the schools and at CMH offices to determine if there is a need for on-going services.  Other assessments that are conducted include court assessments, CPS and Foster care assessments when caregivers may have a substance use disorder, as well as Driver’s License Re-instatement (DLR) assessments.
